I'm look'n to buy a new hopper bottom. I have to back into short building so height is a problem. I'm look'n at getting a 43'x102"x66" with all weight saving options. What would be the lighter, more dependable, & cheaper trailer ? Bear in mind I have a International Prostar that weigh's 21500 with a 1/2 a tank of fuel.

I don't think Timpte makes a 43x102x66 size trailer. My brochure from 2010 models shows a 72" sided trailer being the lowest height in a 43x102. Also I think I would definitely think about a lighter truck, 21500 in this business is extremely heavy. You will have a hard time hauling 50000# payload. My truck is a 07 Pete 386 with a 43x102x84 Timpte and I only weigh 26500 with 150 gallons of fuel. If you want to save weight I would start with your truck.

Hi Kevin, I was reading your comments and have a suggestion. Timpte builds hoppers as light as 7,400 pounds that rivals anyones weight and also has the fuel saving smooth design. What will you be hauling? Timpte does build a 42'2" 102" 66" with 1,720 cubic feet of capacity. The 43' use to be the 45' model designed for primarily commercial haulers and a 72" side is recommended for light products that need extra cubes. The 43' 102" 72" has 2,025 cubic feet of capacity. This is too big for corn and beans only. With all the light weight saving options you can build a hi-cube 42'2" that will weight around 8,000 pounds or less and haul about anything. They are the largest builder of grain trailers. What part of the country do you live?

Totally agree ditch the binder! I am running Freightliner Columbia's 70" midroof XT, with wide base tires, and single 120 fuel tank, pulling 2011 Timpte 42x78x96 Hoppers and the whole unit only weighs 25-26,000# depending on the driver. You are leaving alot of money on the table with that heavy of a truck.
