They really don't care about a true relationship with their customer unless that customer is moving X#$'s or loads on their boards or trucks. In effect many small shippers have fallen for the lies and will not work direct with a small carrier. Keeping the pricing scheme way under balanced because the Mega's are actually scared that we may actually wake up one day and start working together instead of against each other.\n \n It is easy to spot the Mega just look them up in a google search. They all brag about the Billions of dollars that they are making each year. They measure profit margins increases by a small percent but what they are not telling you is how big their margin was to start with. Become educated as to how the market works and then you will know what you should be charging. There is a great difference in saying if we just make a penny per mile on each truck then we are good vs. if we just make a penny per mile profit on each truck we are good.\n \n Their overhead is tremendously greater than ours. So for them to make the penny per mile profit on each truck their rate has to be substantially higher than ours. This is what those Mega's are talking about when they keep bitching about a level playing field. In effect the are somewhat right, but yet they will keep on paying substandard rates to their lease operators and to the majority of the carriers that work with them.\n \n I just love some of the emails that I get from them on their Power Only gigs You would be better off to just be a company driver for them instead of hauling Power Only for them.
