They are dispatched out the same as my company trucks on a first in first out basis unless they need to go a certain direction. If 2 trucks are in I give the owner op the choice of loads. All I ask is that the logs hit my desk legal and we don't leave the state overweight, if you go overweight go work for someone else. My trucks are DOT legal when they leave home. I do everything possible to keep the truck moving if it isn't home. I confess to lowering my standards on Friday rather than leave a driver sitting. Leave any good driver sitting in a truckstop for a weekend and by the end of the weekend the rest will have him convinced that the boss is the devil and then some. If I'm out on the weekend I won't sit, so I don't ask anyone else to.\n As owners we all have a responsibilty to keep rates up, I agree with Dale on that, but I want Owners to start standing up to the Insurance companies and the government. I have been out of trucking since 2006 due to knee related issue. Back in 06 I was driving a 99 Volvo for a hopper bottom outfit out of Sheridan, IN. Mind you they was not a even big Think they had around 20 or so trucks give or take. Well anyways my truck was in shop and was gonna be 24 hours or so for them to fix it. So they gave me one of there newer trucks. Think it only had 34000 miles if that. They asked me to go take a load somwhere while I waited was like 400miles or so. So I did I hated that truck not because it was new because it was garbage to me. Begged them to fix my truck and they did. Then my boss called me and asked me why I turned in the almost brand new truck. My response to him was I dont need a brand new truck to drive for you to keep me happy. I'm currently looking for work Live in Pontiac, IL. When I drove for them they was awsome. I mean most of these companys are con men most of the time be it hopper bottoms or not. Thats what I love to drive. My friend drive regular 53' van and goes you know its alot easier driving van.
