Today we're in Cuba, Missouri, the heart of Route 66, where Bill Wallis bought a single gas station in 1968 and built it into Wallis Companies: a fully integrated fuel distribution, trucking, and retail operation running 42 trucks, 67 stores, and 1,400 employees.

We sat down with Matt Jones, who started as a driver and worked his way up to running the transport division, to talk about the one-of-a-kind Freightliner cabover in a Peterbilt fleet, the Covid pivot that pushed them into bulk freight, their Missouri Trucking Association safety award, and the culture that keeps people here for decades.
