Spare truck's been giving us headaches for a while — today we knock out two jobs I've been putting off. First up, the block heater cord on this Volvo is completely corroded and the block heater itself barely works in the cold. Rather than running the new cord all the way around the motor to the factory location (the "correct" way), I'll show you the fast way that saves you 30+ minutes and still works perfectly. Then we chop the top off a stack that's been bent over for three years — with a rubber band trick for marking your cut line straight around the pipe.

Dealership would charge you at least an hour of labor plus parts markup for the block heater job. This took 20 minutes.
