From Cotton Fields to Bulk Trucks: How One Family Reinvented Itself 4 Times
Description
About this video
Four generations. One Oklahoma family. Over half a million dollars stiffed by a single solar customer. And the podcast — playing through an earbud in a pig barn — that changed the next chapter of their trucking company. The Blackwells have been working their land outside Wayne, Oklahoma for three generations. Cotton, then cattle. Then 25 years of pipeline restoration that took them from Oklahoma to Florida and back. They built Blackwell Trucking Incorporated on the side — just to keep their own equipment moving.
But the last four years took a swing at them. Pipeline work went quiet. Solar customers stiffed them on over half a million dollars. Flatbed rates collapsed. And the family that had survived everything from boll weevils to bankruptcies was looking for a way forward.
Then one night, while Jared Reaves — Bob Blackwell's son-in-law and the man now running the trucking side — was doctoring a sick show pig, he heard a podcast that changed everything. Within 30 days he'd signed up with 40 brokers. Within 60 days the family bought their first two hoppers. Today, Blackwell Trucking is one of our newest BulkLoads members. Seven trucks. Seven hoppers. And a goal of ten by the end of next year.
