Our last two mack trucks wiegh 18500 with mp8 13 spd 200wb with all the locals on it wet kit included. My concern is traction. Construction jobs in spongy ground i think might be a problem also.This truck primarily will be on highway 90% of the time but you never know when it might not be. Also how is the traction in snow and ice. Will get a power divider with a full diff lock I'm sure that will help but is that enough? But they are 100% on road. Some states that have Chain control , like Callifornia might not let you go, as you are a single drive. I've known people that have had single drive tractors with a device called a jiff lock, where a two axle can be a three axle. They have a dump valve on the one axle, and when traction is a problem , they dump or adjust the air on that one dead axle to put more weight on the drive axle.. But don't forget your equal air on the tandems in places like Illinois. Splitting your drives.. Which is illegal. But that's another story. Will you save weight? Yes. Some. Will you have any resale value? No. If you want to save weight.., look at not wide track, but super singles. As in 425/ 65/22.5. They save about 500 lbs per tandems, over duals, you can chain them up easier than tandems, but when you buy tires, you are buying basicly two tires. And don't recap them , unless you are local. We were restoring its prob about 90% done painted pinstriped. We have the inside to do yet. The best trucks Mack made the super liner . 2 nd best engine are the old 300 plus. 1 st motor the 350' s. That super liner has camelback not the 3 spring. We also restored a 1954 LT with a 250 cummins that is sharp. It has a duplex I was wanting to haul a load from the quarry with around here but I can't get it in to second let alone all the gears. Dad hasn't drove one in 40 some years when we got it he fired it up and just like a kid in a candy store he took off with a smile from ear to ear.
