Got home from ADM marshall ethanol plant. Spent 3 1/2 hours unloading. Got 2 loads today. They cut off at 1 PM. Trucks are coming from 100 miles away. How are we supposed to make any money running 190 miles a day?

No it's mainly the same guys I get for applicants that want to be home most nights and every weekend and still make 50 k. i don't like my drivers to be out as much as they are but I feel they need to make a decent living while they are out.

Changing trailers may be an option for some, but out here options are few. Van freight pays 1.25 a mile at best. Cant pay for a truck that way. Other problem is... wife in poor health, need to be home. Have sat in truck stops and listened to guys beg their dispatchers to get home for family problems, and hear their frustrations. I put my family ahead of work.

My prayers are with you and your family. We as a company tell our guys give us as much warning as possible and we will get you home. I had a driver Sunday his mother had a stroke, we unloaded monday morning and bounced him 250 home even gave him the option of loading him to her house that is 800 miles from his house. Saying that we have had drivers abuse the privledge also.

Sometimes a little goes a longway...There are a few good companies that will help when you really need it...Another is Clark Transfer...They flew the guy home when his family member got sick...This happened to me a few years ago with a company that I was leased to...I was in New Jersey and had to dead head home to Nevada...no name to be mentioned ATS...What comes around goes around..Hats off to the employeers that give a little extra when it is really needed... |
