BEWARE SPEEDY G TOWING – Out of Illinois
One of our drivers was stuck in a field in rural Illinois and needed to be pulled about 100 feet to get back on the road. We did a quick google search for tow companies in the area and found Speedy G that was only 22 miles away, so we called and requested service. (Something we do on a regular basis)
Please be cautious not to make the same mistake we did!! We are so accustomed to working with honest and reputable companies we did not ask Speedy G for an itemized list of what the job would cost before they sent a single axle rollback “wrecker” to our driver. After they drove 22 miles and spent about 15 min pulling us out, they called for payment and said the bill came to $7,462.50, must be paid now and they do not take debit or credit card. We said that is ridiculous and we refused to pay over $2,500 for the job. Speedy G then brought out a much larger wrecker and hooked on to the front of our truck demanding we pay $7,462.50 for our truck to be released. We called the local Sheriffs department but when the deputy arrived, he informed us although it made him sick there was nothing law enforcement could do because Speedy G performed a service, even though we didn’t sign anything. So, our truck was impounded, and the charges and headaches only went up from there!
Please do not repeat our mistake, ALWAYS request in writing a full itemized list of what the tow bill will cost BEFORE agreeing to service. Even those 30 min jobs, get it writing and avoid Speedy G Towing out of Illinois!!
