Check your facts. You have a lower weight to tire ratio on a train or a quad than you do on 5 axle unit. A triaxle is only 42,500 lbs. a quad is 50,000 lbs. the new law that is being pushed is 17,000 per axle.. Or a tri would be 51,000. And a 9 axle train is 129,000 so yes per axle the weight can be less for more gross. Yes the state has alot to do with the failure of the roads.. Have you ever gone through a construction site, where they are putting in base rock and no water truck is even on the job? You need water, on this base rock so when you compact the rock it locks together.. And you can get it hard like concrete.. That is what you want, or they don't stabilize dirt with clay in it. So the clay will move all around under the concrete or asphalt ... That is one reason why the roads in some states are so screwed up.. It would be like you not greasing your truck.. It will look good and work for a while.\n Then there are the permits that most states require for anything over 80,000 .. Utah is 350 a year, Nevada is 60 dollars per thousand pounds per year. So states you don't need a permit, but have a higher registration cost for your plates. If your loaded in Oregon even at 80,000 you have to have that axle down on the ground and for all miles you pay 2-3 cents more per mile.. Even empty.\n And just who is truely making money pulling trains? When I pulled them in Nevada my truck cost more as you need a heavier built truck and the extra cost for he trailer.. or trailers, my fuel mpg was about 3, pulling all of that weight you had alot more tire wear, and if you don't like to chain up in the winter, don't even think about trains.. That back trailer is like a boat anchor.. I would have to sometimes chain up to get out of the truckstop parking lot ,with a plowed lot... On a triaxle 42,500 lbs. the middle axle is about 1,500 lbs. then on a spread you can have 40,000 lbs, that's a grand total of 1,000 lbs extra. With extra drag with that extra axle tire and brake wear etc.. Is that third axle really worth it? You do get more pulling more weight.. Have higher costs, and who makes out? The shipper.. But you can go brag that you pull trains, or big trailers.. Do you make more money? Maybe on the gross.. Debatable on the net.", "contentHtml": "If you check..
