I have heard more stories lately about CARB asking drivers to pull over while they are already in a scale facility, but "supposedly" CHP has advised drivers that it is not required. I have also been told that CARB people have no Sirens or lights or firearms on their vehicles and according to CHP they can only request that you stop for them to inspect your equipment. I have heard also of a few trucks being cited for idling while in some truckstops in La and San Diego, but the CARB cops just come by and put a sticky citation on your cab without waking the driver.
The last couple of trips to Ca I saw plenty of non CARB compliant trucks, but are they really going to have the ability to enforce all of this? If they do actually stop the older equipment on a specific date it would "appear" to me that the highways would see a dramatic reduction in traffic. Art Pfluger |

It is my understanding that CARB doesn't have any authority to enforce their laws. Just shove this drivel down our throats. They get the CHP or any law enforcement officer and recomend them to enforce the CARB laws. It is also my understanding that CARB can only be involved in civil suits and not criminal. If you have ever been involved with fish and game in Oregon.. It's the same thing. So basicly it's kind of like a citizens arrest.also it is my understanding that if a truck has a clean idle sticker, they aren't polluting, so they can idle in California. But try calling CARB.. It probably will be a total waste of time, but somebody their might know the regulations. Best of luck on this. As any tickets are spendy. Please if I'm not right on this ,please feel free to correct me. Jeff.
If you really want to get confused.. Try reading the regulation for having a non CARB refer unit legally in California..it would be cheaper to take the unit off and leave it at home. Welcome to the communist state of California. And this is only the beginning. |

CARB is watching. They see what they believe is non-compliant and they get CHP to do the stop. if you aren't CARB registered its $1000 fine for every day you are in California. They will do a log (book) check and fine you on a per day basis. If you truck in Ca less than 10% of your total business per year, quit going to Ca. The expense of becoming CARB legal is not worth the hassle. |

If everyone would stop going into California, they would get what they want. No more polluting truck traffic. And if everyone would park their truck throughout the USA,just think how clean the air would be. The trucking industry has the power to stop all this insanity. What it takes is everyone to stick together, and show that we have had enough. It is up to us if we really want things to change. |
