A guy I run with pulls a Merritt MVT and we're constantly welding on the hoppers. Apples to Apples. I've spec. Cornhuskers and Timptes, when you make them the same, Timpte was $750 cheaper but the spec sheet said weight would be +-3% which ment it might weigh the same as the husker or might be heavier. When I asked the Timpte salesperson for the alluminum fifthwheel placement and aluminum sub frame they said, \"It might not last as long or be as trouble free.\" Those where both options that cost.\n I believe Wilson would fit in that same category, with light weight options they can be made as light as a Husker.\n Most Cornhuskers are made with Aluminum fifthwheel placement and sub frame for a lot of years, I think since the early 90's. I pull Conhuskers and have not ahad any problems with durability. I believe they can last as long as the others in everyday sevice over the road or pulling out of the field. I do both and loaded up!\n I'm partial to Cornhusker because that's what I own. I've talked to Timpte and their salesperson didn't seem confident in the light weight options durability. The Wilson salesman didn't call back, they have a new guy in eastern Iowa now, because it's a fact the other guy was and still is the best salesman Cornhusker and Timpte ever had!\n I'll leave you with this can you afford light weight? If so do you want a trailer that has been light for years or do you want a trailer built by someone trying to catch up on weight that the builder thinks is comprimising durability?\n Good luck! And I know there are some who dont like them for the simple reason why is that the way they where designed makes it impossible to load a backhaul in them,,,,,,but you get used to it and adjust after a few years.
