IS A PNEUMATIC LOAD IN THE SOUTHEAST ASKING TOO MUCH?

I have been at Dixie Transport since 2007 located in Calhoun, Ga. As everybody probably knows Calhoun is very close to Dalton, Ga (the carpet capital) But what you may not know is that the carpet industry that once lived and thrived is now dead and gone. Our Pneumatics that once hauled non stop carrying the plastic polymer that carpet is made from are now sitting idle most of the time. Since I've been employeed here I have watched this company lose customer after customer to the death of the Carpet Industry.
Is this tanker still needed in the trucking world today? Or has it been replaced by the hopper bottoms & walking floors etc that I see on the load boards day after day. Tell me what you think. Is the Pneumatic a dinosaur. Since I'm new to trucking I want to hear from some people who have been around the industry and have watched trends come and go. I'd love to have a good hook on some loads but I'll settle for some good advice.
