I sure am fielding a lot more calls everyday from shippers and brokers wanting freight hauled. I always ask if they have increased their rates lately although most have not . Ive just decided that i have a certain price ill haul for if i dont get it i will keep the truck parked in the shop. Had a broker call yesterday wanting trucks out of Northern Cal. Told them that the rate wasn't good. They said that the live floor trucks are harder to get but they don't want to raise the rates. Everyone wants us to haul for less than $1.70 with new Floors @$65,000 a peice and pay us nothing. I can lease my trucks to some dry freight outfit and pull their cheap Vans and make $1.50 or more a mile and have a lot less headaches and responsibilities. Why can't the brokers and shippers understand the this? Getting to the point of getting rid of my trailers as it just doesn't pay.
