Light Weight Hopper Rigs
Hello All,
I am new to the hopper world. I got into it because I am a custom harvester for half the year and I wanted my equipment to make some income the rest of the year. Currently we have heavy trucks. We have seven axle rigs... for example we have a 2005 Intl 9900i with a C15 and a pusher hooked to a triple axle Timpte. In the states we harvest in, we can load these trucks to the gills. However, as you know, commercially trucking with such a rig the tare weight becomes an issue. In states that limit you to 80k, we can only haul 23 tons.
My question is, if a guy wanted to go to a super light rig... what tractors and trailers would you suggest? My dream would be to have a seven axle rig that is under 30,000 lbs tare weight... Is this possible or should I continue to dream?
