We haul mostly reefers form east to west coast and in that biz you have to have 25 trucks before anyone will talk to you about hauling direct. I was just wondering if bulk is a little easier to get or should we just go thru another broker? I have been pulling my own freight off the board for 8 months I'm just 1 truck so it's working out ok...money can be slow at times. But I enjoy having the freedom to run any load I want. lots of fake loads and I do have a \"do not haul for\" list that is a little more extensive than I'd of expected. I guess it comes down to how that you want to operate your business. I guess sometimes we don't put as high of a value on brokers until we really realize what they do. I'm not saying they should get 20 and 30% and more like some do but should be worth 8 to 10 providing that they keep us busy with good rates. It's probably worth that for the flexiability that we need with company drivers these days. Probably stay with the brokers for now. Then use bulk loads the balance of time. I have one truck and it is not good to rely on one shipper. So I fill in with broker or other shipper loads. There is a place for honest brokers.
