NEW FUEL TAX

Obama Highway Plan Fuels Talk of Gas Tax Hike. As if anyone could afford this.

The administration wants an immediate cash infusion of 50billion followed by a 500 billion increase over 6 years. That is a 200% increase from the current federal taxes alone. Current fuel tax is a average of 24.4 cents on deisel and 18.4 cents per gallon on gas. That is FEDERAL ONLY. This proposal could raise that to close to 44 cents per gallon deisel. Another way to put it is 5 to 11 cents per mile depending upon your fuel usage. I can only imagine that once the feds raise the tax then the states will follow suite. My question is what are they doing with all of this money. They certainly are not fixing the roads. I have over 20 years in the land planning and engineering field and have traveled enough to know that this money is being spent on other things. They currently collect more money per year than it took to fund the Iraq war in 2005 all in. November elections will be very important.

Everyone likes to blame the oil companies but I can assure you that the FEDs make more money on the fuel then they do.

I am a broker and not a carrier however I am always on the lookout for things that will help carriers make better business decisions. If you would like to recieve my quarterly or monthly newsletters email me at ([email protected]) they are free.
