I made the mistake of calling them once a few months ago...spent the first 5 minutes talking to someone who didn't know what a hopper was - 2nd ten minutes in discussion with someone who really didn't know if that move was actually available, or what it was or what the rate was ( depsite the fact that it had been posted within the last few minutes and like all of the other loads was posted dozens of times.) and this scenario plays out IF you can actually be lucky enough to get someone on the phone. That was a wasted 15 minutes of my life I can't get back. Email with them would perhaps be easier - but you find if you hit the button for email on here that they do not accept emails - soul stripping, energy draining phone calls only. Went to the load board this morning and same thing 23 listings of the same likely non-existent load... And I have been watching some of the load boards lately looking for the rare opportunity but mostly for sport. A couple of things I see. Loads posted days ahead of time, things are very slow. I don't want to work with Totally Quirky Loco's, Probaly Loosing Service, or Under Trucking Integrity. They know nothing at all about bulk, like Marsha said when you call them they don't even know what a bushel is most times. Goes to show just how much they will try to make a buck, getting involved in selling a product that they know little to nothing about. Shame on the shippers that allow them to try and move their product for them. I guess their promises of cheaper trucks are winning out with the shippers. I would like to see them put that cheap crap on Chicoda's trucks, Steve has nice equipment and Marsha keeps those guys moving at good rates. She is one of the best dispatchers that I ever worked with, even though I gave her a hard time when we worked with them for that week a couple of years ago. She rocks it as a dispatcher, and Steve was a pretty cool cat as well. Although Brokers get bashed on here quite often. I am thankful to be able to move our trucks with a combination of direct freight and freight from reputable brokers. We bust our butts to keep our guys rolling at decent rates and that job has become tougher week by week. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the brokers who get my truck list and then call me up and ask what they can help us with - and then REALLY work to help move our trucks. Brokers are the extra eyes and ears we need to help us snag the loads we need to put with our direct freight. We know which ones work hard to negotiate fair rates with their customers and likewise they understand that we try to bring a level of reliability and professionalism to what we do through good communication from dispatch in our office and a dependable crew. I try to remain positive on a daily basis in the eye of a storm where phrases like - \"back haul\" - \"fuel is down\" and \" that's what I have been getting it done for\" are thown at me on a daily basis as a justification for rates that are sometimes actually below operating costs. We have seen this before and things will cycle back eventually - for now it's a matter of hanging on tight and waiting for the dust to settle and hoping that we do our best to keep our hard working truckers profitable so they can continue to ride another day. For me at the end of the day/week it's just a matter of asking myself, have we served our customers to the best of our ability and in the process helped those who work harder than any of us in an office will ever know continue to put food on the table and feel like their efforts have been compensated enough to want to come back and do it all again the next week.", "contentHtml": "Thanks so much for the kind words. Very well said. We just had a situation where the construction crew in Omaha was having issues with their reach lift. The construction company, the broker, and my company have all come to an agreement without having to yell at each other for all of us to be compensated accordingly. They are even going to put our driver up in the hotel that we are delivering the carpet to for the night. This is working together willingly and not by force. I am thankful for the honorable shippers, brokers, and truckers that are in our industry. They are the ones that make me want to continue to stick it out. Thanks to all those that understand the working together concept, it sure makes a bad day turn good. Just because our customer was having a bad day does not give us the right to try and take advantage of them, they were very generous in paying our detention, and layover without us asking.
