Questions about hopper work/dedicated dispatch
I'm looking to get into something different by the end of the year. I'm happy doing what I'm doing its just time for a change and I'd like to get away from livestock before eLogs are required so I'm not looking for a job at the same time as everyone else. I've talked to quite a few people who are doing it as well as a few friends so this isn't so much a "how much can I make" thread.
Around home you pretty much need a 13 axle setup if you want to stay close to home, and I'm not interested in that. So for the most part I have two options. First would be a 42ft tandem. I could easily scale 26 ton full of fuel. Ideally I'd like to be gone a week to 10 days at the most then home in central SD for a couple days. Im not CA legal but I'm open to anywhere else. The second option would be to put a lift axle on the truck and pull a triple or quad or else pull a 40/20 A train and run west. I love running out west now but I'm not even sure if running the Dakotas to MT/ID and back is something that can be done. I know DDG goes that way and fertilizer comes back but that's about it.
I wouldn't need a trailer or authority. I'd like to be able to find a good fit with a dedicated dispatch and make it work. I prefer to not be looking for loads while I'm on the road. I'm not in a hurry to make a move so I'm open to a face to face sit down with people too so I can get as much info as I can. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
