It doesnt matter if a Company normally pays a fuel surcharge or not. that does not mean that those are the terms that Jess has with them. He could have a all in rate. I for one always wave the Fuel surcharge and charge a lot more of a all in rate if that company is used to paying a cheap rate plus a surcharge. Also with the way commodities work just because it went to a company that normally pays fuel, how do you know that they set up the freight on that load? Could have been the shipper, or a trading company in the middle. I do ask all of you though if a broker tells you that they work on a particular percentage and you find out later that they took more than they claimed what then? I take a load because it pays what I want and goes where I want. I don't take cheap stuff to get somewhere. At the same time if the broker says they are getting 10% and you find out they took 25% what then? I needed $2.50 per mile but the load paid the broker $3.50 per mile he takes the rest and that is ok? My second question is how do you feel that when you load for broker A and the paperwork clearly tells you that broker B is who booked the load, so now you are aware that there is more than one party between you and the shipper. Why are you worried about what somebody else is making, if you are getting what you want? I have asked that many times over and I still get the answer that the broker deserves nothing. Well fine, for those of you that think the broker deserves nothing quit hauling brokered loads and than you will quit complaining about the brokers. Sounds simple enough to me.\n \n If the shipper is offering more money than the broker: I haul for the shipper direct\n \n If the broker is offering more money than the shipper: I haul for the broker direct\n \n as far as how many people are in the middle, my only complaint is that the information gets diluted not so much the rate. The rate usually is split amongst the brokers as they have agreed. We all know that when there are to many cooks in the kitchen that it spoils the pot, that is the same when there are to many brokers involved in the load. You end up with wrong PU / Del numbers, wrong contact information, wrong operation hours, etc. I think this is Art and the rest of us biggest complaint about to many brokers involved in the load.\n \n The original post was slinging mud at a broker because that individual felt they were taken advantage of about the lack of fuel surcharge. He had a choice, if the load did not pay what he wanted then he did not have to haul it. If you are a true businessman then quit complaining about your mistakes, suck it up and drive on. Learn from your mistakes and do better the next time. Quit blaming others or coveting what they have.\n \n I have had the same problem from owner operators and company drivers, they worry more about what I and the brokers are making off of the load, instead of worring about doing the work that they were asked to do. They did not take the risk that I took and yet they think that they should receive all the reward and I should receive nothing. Well I don't work for free, and neither should anybody else, that includes brokers, shippers, truckers, and anybody else that puts in an honest days work for an honest days pay.\n \n I have ripped my decals off of enough whining owner operators trucks that thought just because they owned a truck and trailer that they deserved all the money. They went and got their authority and within 6 months were out of business and were back to driving a company truck because they lacked the self discipline to truly run a company.\n \n I have parked my equipment because of whining drivers that thought they should make more for doing less. The equipment has always been and will always be loyal to me, the drivers ( I don't thinks so). \n \n We live in an etitlement society gentlemen and ladies, the government has lied to you by telling you that you are guranteed and entitled to make money even if you don't work for it. If you don't know how to negotiate the rate you want, then you should just sell your truck and trailer and either get out of trucking or go be a little whiney company driver.\n \n I just let two driver go because between the two of them they only worked 24 weeks out of the year. I paid these two drivers between $30,000 - $40,000. Their jaws dropped when I told them I no longer needed them because I was going to park their trucks until the spring. The rate usually is split amongst the brokers as they have agreed. We all know that when there are to many cooks in the kitchen that it spoils the pot, that is the same when there are to many brokers involved in the load. You end up with wrong PU / Del numbers, wrong contact information, wrong operation hours, etc. I think this is Art and the rest of us biggest complaint about to many brokers involved in the load. \r\n \r\nThe original post was slinging mud at a broker because that individual felt they were taken advantage of about the lack of fuel surcharge. He had a choice, if the load did not pay what he wanted then he did not have to haul it. If you are a true businessman then quit complaining about your mistakes, suck it up and drive on. Learn from your mistakes and do better the next time. Quit blaming others or coveting what they have. \r\n \r\nI have had the same problem from owner operators and company drivers, they worry more about what I and the brokers are making off of the load, instead of worring about doing the work that they were asked to do. They did not take the risk that I took and yet they think that they should receive all the reward and I should receive nothing. Well I don't work for free, and neither should anybody else, that includes brokers, shippers, truckers, and anybody else that puts in an honest days work for an honest days pay. \r\n \r\nI have ripped my decals off of enough whining owner operators trucks that thought just because they owned a truck and trailer that they deserved all the money. They went and got their authority and within 6 months were out of business and were back to driving a company truck because they lacked the self discipline to truly run a company. \r\n \r\nI have parked my equipment because of whining drivers that thought they should make more for doing less. The equipment has always been and will always be loyal to me, the drivers ( I don't thinks so). \r\n \r\nWe live in an etitlement society gentlemen and ladies, the government has lied to you by telling you that you are guranteed and entitled to make money even if you don't work for it. If you don't know how to negotiate the rate you want, then you should just sell your truck and trailer and either get out of trucking or go be a little whiney company driver. \r\n \r\nI just let two driver go because between the two of them they only worked 24 weeks out of the year. I paid these two drivers between $30,000 - $40,000. Their jaws dropped when I told them I no longer needed them because I was going to park their trucks until the spring. central plains brokerage out of hereford tx. I hauled a load for them. And they kept it. I know the customer pay fuel surcharge and the load payed more than the broker payed. Watch this company.
