We tried that and had virtually the same problems as with a driver. The O/O were worse in the sense that they didn't feel as obligated to show up for a load as a driver. They felt that it was their truck and if they got out of bed and didn't feel like showing up they just don't and they are a lot harder on your trailer. Also had a couple that turned around and took customers away that were high revenue as they learned the loads and the rates and then cut the rates and took the work.\n \n Good luck. Most of these driver if thats what you want to call themselfs Dont give a rats A*& what they do. I'm no owner operator I have always been a company driver. I drive whos ever truck it is like it was my own period. First and formost always treat the customer right. With that being said I have gone the extra mile and been very nice to customer but there are somtimes that you can't please them. There was one occaision that a customer was going home early but needed my stuff there 4 hours early so I got it done. Few weeks later went back there they asked for me to make the trip for them with the load. Got there and boom they had pizza hut pizza and They unloaded my truck for me while I ate. Now with Drivers being lazy always look for new drivers even if you have all your trucks full. This way if you been eyeballing somone to fire your have somone to rush back in the truck to get it going again. And driver breaking stuff on the truck tearing it up. Have somone ride with them for a week or two. The last company I worked for did that to me and they was happy how I treated the company Truck. I would get bonuses for a month that goes by where they didnt have downtime on the truck due to misuse and tearing it up. You can't always have perfect trucks but if you give incentive for your drivers to be easier on the trucks and tell them.\n \n Most company drivers dont really know much about mechanics if at all. I got a phone call at 3 am from a driver that was following me from same company and asked where the fuel filter was on his truck and how to change it.
