The simple solution would be a fuel surcharge, right? Unfortunately most grain and feed commodities are traded with a set rate per ton or cwt or bushel when the contract is made. It is sometimes painful or ackward to ask the broker or shipper for an increased rate because of that set rate. It is also just as painful to ask a carrier to haul for the same rate when fuel has increase $.10-.15/gal in a week.
