Parked the Hopper
With the rates constantly falling with the hopper, we have once again decided to park the hopper. When you are consistently being offered more to haul dry van freight and the loads are usually around 35K or less, it would not be prudent at this point and time to continue to run hopper bottom. When I see the rates come back up on the hopper we will reinstate the trailer or if we have an Owner Operator that is dead set on just doing hopper we will also reinstate the hopper. Good luck to all of you that continue to run your hoppers, but I can't keep missing out on $2.25 and up rates for dry vans when I have customers asking for trucks during the upcoming Christmas rush. We are being offered those kinds of rates to haul their trailers as well, so looks like a mercenary type move to me.
