PITTSBURG PERFORMANCE--CAT PARTS
I tried to find my original post, but to hard. I bought a Pittsburg performance muffler for my 2001 Kw W900L with a C15 last spring. We already had some extra ECM codes and the truck ran well, but the fuel mileage has never been stellar. We take a lot of pride in our trucks. We worry more about how many trucks we pass on the road rather than how many fuel pumps we pass. I know not the right priorities, but my family puts every waking hour in how to return to racing, trucking is just a possible way to get back there, so performance and the logic of how to attain this is something that we put effort into.
My 21 year old son took this truck away from me last winter and I will probably never get to drive it again. Was the only truck I bought new since starting this crap in 1976. Victor installed the muffler with the "Loud Setting". We found out a couple weeks later that we had some other issues so we can't judge the muffler on its own merits. We have installed the muffler, exhaust manifold and turbo know from Eric @ Pittsburg Performance. The truck went from 4.6 to 5.7 with the new parts. Keep in mind we pull hills daily with 13' 6" exterior rib trailers and our tarps have little support so they don't seal like a hopper. For us this is a significant increase. The driver loves the tone, power, mileage and power.
Now for what we also feel is important. Eric@pittsburgperformance has spent a lot of time on the phone and email with me working on problems. I tried other performance places, but no one else has come any where even close to the effort that Eric put into this. As I said I appreciate the time spent working through the logic as being a racer if I don't understand it I'm not doing it. They have done what the said they would do for the price and I have done my part. I'm not advertising for them, but people that will put this effort into a small project with me, who they don't know from ?? impresses me. If anyone else tries I can only hope you have a good experience.
