WOW....
Went to insure my truck after I parked it for 8 years and the cost have skyrocketed. This is unbelievable I was told that the accident cost have almost doubled and that everyone will see a huge rate increase in the coming twleve months, 30% to 50%. I was sure my broker was feeding me a line of crap so I did shop around and found out the ugly truth. 28 years of driving experenice with no accidents and got smacked down. He was not lying. This is going to be a huge hit on o/o.

Yes it is expensive. Does anyone have pointers on companies that are better to work with? I am thru Proggressive and it is great other than the general liability portion. They keep trying to tell me they can't give me general liability because I might haul my own stuff. So does a guy truly have to have 2 trucks if he wants to haul for hire and occasionally a personal load???

Please look into Great West Casualty in South Sioux City, NE. They're a huge company
that specializes in truck insurance. After 20 years of being insured by Ooida my dad finally
checked with Great West and couldn't believe how much LOWER his insurance is. Like by $400/month!

There are a couple of news articles under the NEWS SECTION of this forum you should look at, Regarding truckers privacy and high insurance cost. It looks as though Karma came around and bit the insurance companies in the ass. Although those are good articles well worth reading, they forgot to mention that the insurance companies begged the government to take a more active role in truck safety after derregulation. Well they got their way, and now they don't like it. After decades of driver harrasment and creating a hostile work enviornment for the driver by punishing them for stuff they have no control over, we now have 100% turn over, witch means all we have lleft are unexperianced and unqualified drivers, teaching other drivers. This industry has become so toxic that nobody stays with it anymore, so we now have a revolving door at a time when when TSA and homeland security are puting out warnings, and it seems the only people who want to drive a truck anymore, are the ones who want to use them as a weapon. Very spooky times for the insurance commpanies right now, to say the least. Yet these rocket scientists in washington keep on pushing a failed agenda, to proud to admit they screwed up by messing with the truckers.
