Another thing is if your going to lease on you wont need your own authority. Hauling local grain for country elevator means you will probley starve unless your spouse has a good paying job... never has been any money in it, working construction is good at times but summmers about over plus the state has no money for alot of projects, I have 7 ashalt trailers and 3 short steel dumps and only two of them have worked a few days this constuction season between Peoria and Springfield areas this year...... You should really think tank... Even doing local stuff you might find yourself setting in line somewhere and it is nice to be able to strech out a little bit. Things change and you might find yourself needing to be out for a night time to time. Sleeping across the seats or hugging the steering wheel for the night is no fun. As for just doing local see what you can find. In our area there are lots of people that doing nothing but local and have been doing it many years and are still in business. The thing to keep in mind is that when you do alot of local grain work if the weather is bad and crops are poor then the trucking is going to be poor as well.
