I think it's important to take time out of our day to ask others how they are doing, and to actually mean it when we ask. Lending a patient and attentive ear can make a big difference. It's really easy to get caught up in the rat race and to forget to take care of ourselves and the people around us. I think many of us, including myself, don't realize how hard the last couple years has been on people. Tough financial times, political instability/ immorality, and a news cycle that profits from causing anxiety and anger. The greatest countries in the world....I'll include you Canada.... shouldn't be burying people that take their own lives. This can affect the toughest, hardest working, grittiest, most successful people that you'd never guess!!! The problem is so bad that mental health clinics have resorted to turning people away that haven't actually attempted suicide yet, because they are overwhelmed. I saw a friend bury his father last week and it was a huge wake up call for myself. Life can be tough. Talk to people and LISTEN. Good luck to everyone, and even if I don't know you and you want to call and vent about the garbage that happens in life, please call me. If I don't answer I'll always call back at some point. 605-467-0732. Class pays...

Very wise words Dale. You are correct about the news industry promoting people hating each other for political or financial profit, and we're quick to take the bait. Kind words and actions go a long ways in brightening someone else's day. You never know what's going on in someone else's life. It doesn't cost you anything to be respectful and nice to a stranger, it may help their outlook on society and life in general. When right is portrayed as "wrong" and vice versa, we all need some encouragement that we're not alone in our lives, even though our job gives us a lot of time to think that we are. My dad once told me "your mind can be your biggest asset, or your worst enemy, depending on how you use it". Even a "bad" day, when you're living in a free country, with food, water, shelter, and a safe family, is still a pretty good day! Keep your head up and be thankful.
