I have been told it pays the best but doesn’t seem like it grain is paying the same. Broker won’t go up . Says he gets them covered all the time

"We get it covered all the time for that rate"... LOL. Brokers tell everyone that so they think that's the going rate. I guarantee that whoever is taking bankruptcy rates won't be in business long.

I just tell them that I'm not everyone and I hang up.

If more of us stopped buying these lies, then the "going rate" would be one that was, at the least, fair.

Ask them to show you what they are being paid on the load. They're probably keeping 30% or more.

Roofing granules in Kansas always pay well. Find the contact for that, and see if you can get in on it. If it's a big roofing company like Tamco in Kansas, they usually only give out a few contracts for all of their loads....because it pays so well. But with a smaller shingle company you are, probably, more likely to get in on their work.

Then tell them to keep covering them at that rate. Know your running cost and stick to being profitable. Why cut your own throat to haul cheap freight? The company is still going to be in business if you go out of business. So make sure you are getting paid accordingly

We truckers need to get more a backbone and stand tall. To many companies will take the load just to say they’re busy making money and turning the wheels.

They think 40 a ton is good enough on 320 miles . To me that is not good money . These brokers are taking to much money . But when you ask to see the rate they get I can’t do that they say . I just want fair . And a broker taken more then 10% is not fair to any of us .
