Brokers

We just got our authority activated. We’ve tried accepting loads off the board but these companies say we need more insurance and a letter from the DOT stating our authority is active. Is there another Avenue for this? It’s going on 3 weeks now I can’t haul anything for 4 different companies because of issues.

Most brokers won't work with a new authority until 60-90 days old. Shippers are the same, some require 6 months active authority. My suggestion would be to find a dispatcher to run your truck or company that you can lease your truck onto while your authority ages.

Aaron,

It was great speaking with you on the phone. I wanted to post our discussion incase anyone else has this issue.

All for-hire interstate motor carriers must have their BMC-91 liability filed with the FMCSA in order for their authority to show as "active".

As discussed, my recommendation is to call your insurance agent and request the fillings be made and to send you a copy of the BMC 91 for your records.

Talk soon!
