What you need to understand is that these people are not getting their freieght hauled for free, they are just telling you that in hopes that you will be dumb enough to believe it, and bite the poisened apple.

It all depends upon the location he is running. If he is running that rate mainly in the midwest then he is doing good. If he is running that rate in Texas then he is doing really good, now if he is running that rate out east or on the west then it sucks. Like you said Kevin there are those that will say it is not good without us knowing the full circumstances of the loads and locations.

Could this be another attempt by a TQL broker to justify their cheap freight tactics? $2.25 miles sucks in all sectors of the bulk industry. That is why most of us parked and are doing other things in our backyard. Scott I will have to disagree on your rate you suggested is not okay, it sucks. I was averaging quite a bit more than that as you know and parked mine , except for one or two days a week that makes 5 mile hub. All the van loads I found are paying above $2.25 mile, something wrong with that picture.

I agree with you Jason, but we don't even know if he is hauling bulk, he may be running flat bed. He stated that he was no longer running the end dump, so I think he is out of the bulk like a lot of us for the time being.

Proverbs 27 verses 1-2
1 Boast not thyself of to morrow for though knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own lips is heavier than them both.

well i personally think that the fella is doin ok , but , the differing factor is the little number at the end of the week not the big one, lets just say hypothetically that me and joe blow run the same miles in a month and he's runnin 5 bucks a mile and has a big new shiny pete a big new shiny trailer , momma drives a escalde he drives a new duramax , etc etc...... and i'm runnin 2.50 per mile drivin a truck 8 yrs old pullin a trailer 5 yrs old , that have both been babied by me , i don;t give a damn about turnin heads so i put my money into preventive maintenence watch my dollars close and keep my old equipment in just a good of shape as joes shiny stuff...... i drive a fairly new but practical vehicle just like momma does and we live life modest..... at the end of the week me and joe meet up and compare our profits and he see's that i brought home and profited 800 dollars more than he did after expenses , bills etc. but he just can't wrap his head around how...... as well as lots of oter people can't either, but then not everyone realizes that its not how much you make its how well you manage it. that being said ...yes, rates have to be up and sustainable in order for anyone no matter who they are to make money, and we do need to all work together to keep rates in a place where it is profitable to stay in business, but on the flip side i may not need as much as you , to be more succesfull than you thru proper management and wise descisions,

Very, very, very well said Kevin. We dont know his situation. Thats all miles at 2.24. I would be making money at that...always wanting more, but at least staying in the black and keeping the bank from calling. Still working pretty hard though...thats 3600 miles a week.

I never understood why someone with a dump trailer would haul for crap rates, when they could put their equipment on a government job and get prevailing wage.
