I have never been in a situation where I had to deal with detention time and a driver. Need some input. Should the driver get all of the detention pay, since it was his time, or since it still costs the truck owner money with fuel costs idling the truck, should the detention pay get divied up between the 2?

I pay my company drivers half of detention/stop off/2 door drop etc.
My owner-ops get 100% of the accesorials...detention, FSC, stop-offs/2 door drops etc. Im in the flatbedding industry ...but run a few dumps servicing the steel mills. |

Whatever percentage you have agreed to pay is the same on accessorials. Otherwise why in the hell would you the carrier ask for detention in the first place?

I used to pay the driver $10.00 per hour the rest went to the truck. The truck cost money to sit and they where burning my fuel. If ten per hour to do nothing isn't enough the driver will never be happy anyway.

Is that what they make driving for you as well?
