New to the hopper Game had a truck get stuck over the weekend with load on the receiver had no room to take. This head the truck up for the weekend cost us a $2300.00 weekend load whats fair for detention pay in this situation the truck sat from 4pm firday till 8 am monday morning.

You have to set your rate on the detention. You will have to give your rate to the shipper and negotiate from there. I would start high and come down if needed. You have 64 hours total of wait time, if at 8 am you were completely empty, If not you are not empty at that time I would extend your time until the moment the truck was free to move on to the next load.

Your shipper will try to limit you to a capped amount per day. This is a practice that is used often but the fact still remains that the load was still on your trailer over the weekend causing you to lose revenue. It is important to get your terms in writing on the confirmation, even if after the fact.

Good luck and aim high. Stand your ground and next time have your terms in hand and have them put on the confirmation before you accept the load. The words "no cap" are crutial in your terms as it will not allow the shipper to cap your detention daily.
