This site as everything in our world evolves. My "impression " is more posters are owners that don't drive. Thats ok. I want everyone in the industry to have an opinion.

Here it is.
If you are stopped by law enforcement do you feel that you are safe? Do you feel that you will be treated fairly in regards to the law? Do you feel that you will be physically safe? Especially in a poorly lit rural area.

Interesting topic. My opinion probably isn't as relevant as most because I stay in about a 1200 mile radius. But I feel that in sd, nd, mt, Id, ut,wy,ne, mn, wi, and ia, I personally would trust most highway patrol or police officers, after 2 years of being a trucker, I would probably only trust a small percentage of DOT officers. I feel that I'm treated like a criminal from start to finish, especially in south dakota

I dont have any bad stories although i should have thanks to a few Maryland boys that either missed some things or else they rewarded me for honestly handing all paperwork over. Got a level 1 awhile ago at the scary haunted shed behind new Jersey scale and the young cop was awesome. For the most part i never got smart with any cops and played cool and it seems they respect me on that. I respect the honest officer that by being a public servant his life could always be in jeopardy.

There are those officers out there that instead of protecting the public (to include us), they are on a power trip to enforce the law as they interpret it. Those are the ones that I find questionable and am cautious in dealing with. Those are the ones that have used excessive force thinking they were going to intimidate a taxpaying citizen that actually pays their wages. In the ever growing police state that we are now in. I advise others to use any recording devices they possibly can when dealing with the police or any government official.

They are not on our side and have forgotten their jobs and who they actually work for.

If the fool stops me in a dangerous location I'm not likely to get out of the cab. Had it happen years ago in Atlanta on I/285 for a lane violation. I was up against the guard rail and the left tires on the white line. I was in the wrong but still had two lanes to my left and he was doing his job. Risking his life for "chicken shit" laws.

I do agree that most cops are just bullies with guns. They do enforce the law as they see it not what it actually is.

If I'm at there scale house yeah I feel safe. Getting weighed on portables on the shoulder of the interstate against the guardrail and tires on the white line no I value my life and there's more than that. So far an officer never gave me much reason to question him.

I had an arizona dps officer write me a legit ticket for parking next to a no parking sign. It was the only place for many miles to stop. I needed to check my race car. I thought I felt it moving and it came loose trip prior. I asked him what I was supposed to do. He said to keep moving till it was a legal spot. The car was not loose but because that was my concern he also wrote me for failure to secure cargo. He then told me what time he was off duty and he would be happy to meet me at grocery parking lot if i wanted to take swing.

My daughter in law might be 100 lbs. Officers pulled hand guns on her when she was with my son on a trip on I40 sanders scale.

I40 sanders scale dot officer said my infractions offended him on a personal level. He thought he should hand cuff me and teach to obey the law.

Local kid gets sideways with officers son. Officer catches him one nite hand cuffs him on video. Kid was bruised bad next day after he was outside the view of dash cam. After investigating the department found no wrong doing.

I had texas trooper ask to do walk around. He said lets go to back of trailer, west of katy on I 10, i turn around to see where he is. Hes climbing my truck to look in to see if I have passengers while holding his gun pointed towards me. He couldn't understand why i didn't appreciate it.

I have more but i think you might understand my misgivings. Equally offensive is the new spoken policy of being cited by an officer who then tells you that the ticket might not be correct but you can argue with the judge.

Lastly you get cited. Ticket is dismissed but you can't get rid of the csa points. Just isn't right.

I do not feel safe around most officers. Enforcement is getting more prevalent. It was the biggest reason my son said enough and left.

Unfortunately I've heard stories like that many times. Somebody correct me if my observation is wrong, but did society do this? Just like in politics, I can't imagine anybody SANE being in law enforcement now. After what happened in the last 10 years. They were accused of being racist and being murderers. Why would a level headed young adult become a cop? I think only the wackos are joining the law enforcement team for "little big man reasons" not in all cases but more than should be. I also think some states are looking for more money and the highway is a good place tax the crap out of everyone, but only the trucks have a checking account with money.

If you have any problems with the cop..Call up whatever department he..or shes with and talk to INTERNAL AFFAIRS..they will investigate your complaint..and the cop will not have a very good week or two while they are investigating..as for the ticket being tossed and kept on your CSA score..how many cops write you a bogus ticket.. knowing its going to get tossed.. and they know its going against your score...maybe its time to go to court again..this time in small claims court and sue the cop for trying to put you out of business or wasting your time and the courts time...by raising your CSA score and writing bogus tickets..
it used to be peace officers....then it was law enforcement officer...now its para military officer...well I JUST HAVE TO GIVE YOU A TICKET...sound familiar ? Well no you dont have to.. but you get your jollys off giving them out..

we dont live in a time where there is any respect or consideration for the constatution or any respect for their fellow man or woman with that being said the way some are approched and spoken to see how man woman an child are treated by law enforcement one should always question the training they receive and also look into continued training law enforcement views themselves above the law and above the constitution abunch of steriod taking thugs but this is just my opinion

Ihave my concealed carry permit. I am never unarmed unless I am north of border Every interaction with law enforcement I notify them of such. I have always felt safe and the officer was always very polite and professional. I haven't been cited for any offense, however I did ask for clarification on a warning.

You can't be careful enough anymore. With your ticket money they pay for fire equipment and ems services. Its another way to fix a broken budget. This is why you hardly ever hear of warnings anymore when every motor vehicle is a cash cow. Do it right or fix the budget
