Would you be willing to sacrifice your family and all your belongings to complete with that guy who lives in his truck and owns nothing else, just so you can claim the title of the last trucker standing? How bad do you want it?

No, not until some outside force such as health, or the health of my wife, or my elderly parents force me to stay home. Is there a line I won’t cross? ABSOLUTELY. I’ve parked my hopper for not willing to cross my line. My trucking business could never put me in the position to sacrifice my family, belongings, or anything else for that matter to compete at the level you described. Before I was anywhere near that position, I’d put it in the barn, turn off the battery switch, and wait for better days, as long as it took. If my business could in any way back me into that corner, I wouldn’t be doing it in the first place. Nothing, no amount of money, or love of the industry is worth sacrificing your family, belongings, or personal finances. Life is way too short to let that happen. There are too many ways to make a living where you wouldn’t have to make that sacrifice.
