If any of you guys have a flatbed around Houston TQL has coils going to B'ham. $800 + $40 tapping. I saw 2 trucks loading them today. They're also gonna have some LaVergne Tennessee and Memphis at the end of the week.

wow they are only paying $840 for a steel coil going from houston to Birmingham. I'm a broker and I'd be paying a driver probably $11,000 for that

That's exactly what that young man told me Jeff. "Gotta keep that truck rolling."
$2100 a month truck payment and the carrier he's leased to gets 15%.

If we, as carriers, don't have the balls to drive prices up we're gonna have to get brokers on our side and refuse service to cheap ass shippers.

The excuse of fuel prices are down for the reason is bullcorn. Fuel is down but insurance went up, tires went up, parts are up, and my accountant even went up 2% so just where is this great windfall we're supposed to be enjoying?

I agree with that, I have customers that shoot out loads to carriers and brokers. The rates are so ridicuoulusly low, but they stay low because brokers and carriers are trying to outbid each other to get the load. if everyone sticks together we can keep those shippers from being such cheap asses. when she emails me a load and what she wants the rate to be, I don't even play the game anymore, If she's offering $1900 I come back with at least $23,000, and I wish everyone else would get on board, it would benefit everyone.

Good going Jay. It can be done if we stick together.

I see you're in B'ham and that reminds me of Ocie Cook and Eagle Motor Line. "The Haul Of Fame", the good old days.

I wish somehow we could all get on the same page somehow but that's just about impossible, I promise you I'm going to do my part though...
Yeah I'm in Birmingham, and our main office is based in Chattanooga.
