The other day a carrier named Jack Hammer was having a meeting with Mr. Shippens Cheepass. Jack was explaining to Mr. Cheepass why the numbers that he was trying to get his freight moved for were very similar to what was being paid in 1982. Mr. Cheepass explained to Jack that he could move it on his own truck for that, and that was why he wanted Jack Hammer's company to do it for the same price. Jack took Mr. Cheepass outside and looked over Mr. Cheepass's 1976 truck and 1979 trailer, he pointed out that Mr. Cheepass's equipment was not even up to current standards to go down the road 5 miles let alone 500 miles. Mr. Cheepass then said that all they used the equipment for was to move stuff around on his lot. Jack Hammer then went back inside and showed Mr. Cheepass what the cost for him to move his own products would be today, and pointed out that not only was he offering him a good deal but he was also taking the liabilities off of him with his equipment and insurance. Mr. Cheepass was very impressed with Jack Hammer's presentation and was about to agree to the terms of the contract when the phone rang.
