Multiple Ins. Policies on One USDOT

We have been getting mixed answers on this topic. We need one truck to be insured through a different insurance agency than the other trucks we have. Does anyone have any experience, advice, or contact information as to whom we can speak with to get a final accurate answer? The Nebraska FMCSA was unsure, but said it should be fine (which isn't exactly the conformation I was seeking). One insurance agency thought it might raise an issue and one insurance agency didn't know either way. I want it done with no concerns, to prevent major headaches down the road. Thanks for any help

We had the same problem with a driver that didn't have 2 years of driving experience with our main insurance company. Had to put him and the truck on with Progressive. Worked fine and then moved him over when the main company would take him on.

well based on new york state laws im sure this would be the same in plenty of other states it is illegal to have 2 insurenace policies for the same company ... what we had to do to save on premiums is the actual over the road biz is incorporated with its own tax id number so i have one truck and one trailer along with trailer pool coverage on the out of state policy. and i took all the rest of my trailers and one old out of service truck and created another insurance policy at state min bottom of the barrel insurance under my personal name that falls under my social security number. so because i can only pull one trailer at a time as soon as i hook to one of the trailers that is reg to my personal it is then coverd by the corp policy ..... so for someone that needs 2 diff insurance coverages the only way i see you can get away with this is that you need to create a new biz name with new tax id number and dot numbers .... if it falls under your personal and a DBA then youre going to have to get incorperated .... hope it makes sense
