The Requirement for ELD Should be Destroyed as it Will Make Drivers who are Forced to TRY To Sleep when they are NOT Tired To Inevitably DRIVE When they ARE TIRED In Order to Get 10 or 11 Hours Into their Next 14 Hour Timeframe . - For Drivers who do ALL Drop and Hook Trailers ELD can Work - . But for Drivers who have to Wait Anywhere from 2 to 5 or 6 HOURS At Loading AND Delivery Appointments the BIRD BRAIN Regulations Do NOT Allow Drivers ANY Allowance for Time OFF Duty so they can Only Drive the FEW Hours that Remain in their 14 Hour Timeframe . - The RULES SHOULD Allow Drivers to Start With a FRESH NEW 14 HOURS ANYTIME They Have Had an EQUAL Or LONGER Amount Of Time OFF Than Their LAST Amount Of HOURS ON DUTY . - THIS WILL ELIMINATE The PROBLEM Of Having to STOP DRIVING After Only Driving 3 or 4 to 6 or 7 HOURS Of Driving During the 14 Hours AFTER Driving to a Shipper OR Receiver that STOPS Them from Driving the 11 Hours ALLOWED WITHIN 14 HOURS From When They STARTED . You Can NOT TREAT TRUCK DRIVERS Like ROBOTS And EXPECT THEM To Work Only 5 or 6 HOURS and Then SLEEP - . And THEN Be ALERT And SAFE For the NEXT 14 HOURS As They Are Then FORCED To DRIVE TIRED In Order To GET The 10 Or 11 HOURS ALLOWED SQUEEZED INTO 14 HOURS . - ANYONE With MORE BRAINS Than a RUBBER DUCK Could SEE The STUPIDITY Of These REGULATIONS That Are MADE UP By ""Idjiot People"" Who Have NEVER EVEN BEEN INVOLVED IN The TRUCKING INDUSTRY - . . The ATA could give a rats rear about drivers.. and drivers safety..its all about trying to get rid of the small companies..so their members dont have to compete against them...

By rights, this don't change a thing.. Except that a bull hauler will go to the sell then change his log book to show he was there when he took his 10 hour break so he can get a fresh start after he gets loaded when the sale is over... Otherwise he'd be treated like anybody else...

It's bull shit as far as I'm concerned. My job takes me to the same places and with the same kind of wait time before I get loaded... I won't be exempt..

Bullshit? Well your not hauling live animals that the world needs to survive, if there's dead cattle all over and diseases spread from off loading cattle all over to keep them alive it will be a disaster. Grain or anything else can wait tell it rots

Pigs are even worse in the heat, they pack them in like sardines and they suffer enough the way it is, I can't imagine a load of those sitting for 10hrs in the summer heat with no water

the funny thing about the ATA s members are they are the ones who ve been pushing this garbage since the beginning and yet as time goes on they are the ones who will suffer the most and in the end will go under....look at their fleets now, sitting half empty the other half full of somalians and those with diapers wrapped around their heads anf cant even speak spanglish...and this "new breed" of driver isnt going to do this for a couple hundred bucks a week and stay out 6-8 weeks at a time....they are quickly running out of sheep to shear....look at how quick these new drivers are getting in and OUT of trucking, its not like when i started in the early 90s, back then it was job jumping, now they just jump out of trucking all together

Hi all, first and foremost I completely oppose the ELD mandate. I do have several friends that pull a cattle rack and if you've ever been around or hauled cattle you know you have very limited time to stop before the critters lay down and then you have a stampede inside the rack and it is never a good outcome. I agree with there reasoning on live critters, but it needs to be thrown out because this is suppose to be an "Industry Standard", this is far from it. I personally haul feed to these critters all across the flint hills in blizzard conditions through the winter all day and night. They need feed due to no vegetation on the ground, this effects the lively hood of the critter, where is my exemption? I know this will start a whole string of probable exemptions because I know all of us are in the bulk industry and bulk ingredients are a necessity to the life demands for the human society.

This will get ugly by the time its all said and done.

Like it was said before, we all need to band together. It will be tough to do but the more of an effort the better the chances. We gotta fight guys! The easiest way is to read, share, like, and comment on the facebook pages that are designed to specifically target this issue. The pages are ELD OR ME and OPERATION BLACK AND BLUE. One of the best tools I've seen thus far is on OPERATION BLACK AND BLUE, it is a link that takes you to a pre-written letter that you can add input on and it will directly send a letter to your state congressmen in Washington. Please everyone participate in this. Also, another great thing they are doing is organizing the "meet up" in Washington DC. This is an organized event and there will be several of us up there. Please see Operation Black and Blue for the details. It is on Oct 3rd-8th. If you can attend great, if you can't make it to DC just park the truck and go on vacation, train some bird dogs, go fishing, or take care of that hunny-do list at home. You're going fishing aren't you Scott? This will be the best week to take a rest and park those trucks for a week. It will make an impact. We run a handful of trucks and we are having safety meetings on monday of that week and the rest of the week they can join us in DC or just take it off to relax. Have a great day everyone!

Troy, i just hauled a load of 5-600pders on a 17hr trip. I had to water them 6 times, grrrr. Imagine if i didnt have an exemption. We would of been selling them to the rendering company.

Don't be sucked in,

Whether or not they're running ELD, doesn't change the fact they're still bound to the 11-14 hour rule, maybe you can help me understand how exclusion saves 1 animal?

They should team up if they want run over their 11 hrs.i know what kind of money they get paid. Furthermore what makes them safer drivers because that is what this is supposed to be all about, right.

Guys, now is not the time for more bickering. We cannot allow this dividing and conquering of us to continue. Think outside the box for a minute. What if this exemption leads to the striking down of this one-size-fits all ruling? This is the closest thing to a breakthrough we've had and we need it cause we are less than 6 months out from the mandate. This is a real chance to do something. ALL DIFFERENCES need to be put aside and we should ALL be asking what can we do to support our livestock hauling brothers and sisters in this latest development. This MIGHT JUST BE the opening of the Pandora's box needed for ALL OF US. Another thing we could all do is shut them all down like someone else suggested in another thread here in the forums recently. And for some of you new to the industry:::trip on this for a minute, if we would all shutdown for a week, this would be over. EVERYONE would be forced to listen to us. Now instead of replying and saying the usual "that won't happen" sit back and start really thinking what you as an individual can do and what roughly 3 million of us could do as a group. In short, lets stop the bickering and get something done. For me personally, I say good luck livestock haulers let's see what your part of the industry can accomplish! Disclaimer: these are my views as a driver for Jc Trucking, so please do not blow up my bosses e mail. Please respond here. Thank you. Sam, driver for JC Trucking.

So how do you do itow? I'm so confused. So you are doing just great on PLB's? And you don't hafta wait anywhere? Why did the ELD's make you wait? Lose loads? Not get unloaded? Explain this to me, will ya? Don't you hafta drive tired now? The ELD's are just mirroring the PLD's right? But you aren't tired using paper? It don't take a rubber duck to see through your ideas. Quack quack.
