Yes you'll need a permit. Pull over to the side BEFORE you cross the state scales and walk into the office and buy a trip permint.

Or you can call the state office and purchase a trip permit.

I don't remember right off but I'll look and see if I can find a receipt. We have one O/O who runs a combo plate instead of IRP so he has to buy a permit every trip.

He got the last one through Comdata. It was $25. The one for the trip before was $18 at the scales.

For what is worth both direction on I-10 have been closing at or before midnight.

Pearl River has been sporatic. I'd think they're closed but I wouldn't bet on it.

I been going to Hattiesburg that way quite a bit and they been being closed going both ways during the day time.

I don't know if you can buy the permit from a DPS officer or not. Are you going out 59 into Alabama

If you can't get right for Miss you can take I-59 up to La 41north to Bogulusa then take Ms 26 east from Bogalusa back over to 59 north. It's about 25 mile out of the way but you won't see any cops.

Oh yeah that's better. I would take 59 up to Ellisville then 29 on in.

As for the permit I would buy it if the scale is open going in. If its not open I'd go on anyway. At the very worst you can pull over before you cross the scale coming out and buy the permit then. Just remember, don't pull onto the scales without it.

What kind of tags do you have on truck? In North Carolina you can go 150 air miles from home even in to Virgina. To deliver/pick up your own loads with farm tags. But LA - MS may be differant.
