Good day everyone, If you don't mind I could use some advice on a situation I seem to be running into with one particular carrier. I am bringing this to
this group because I know there are lots of carriers here. Two of the last 3 loads this carrier has pulled for me I have been charged for things I disagree with and or never agreed to. What I typically do is just eat and go on. Do I pay and stop using them or not pay and face whatever repercussions may occur? I've paid the last two just because they would not agree and back off the charges. I typically comply by nature and appreciation for the carrier. The following are some examples. 1. We have used my confirmation for 4 years without an issue. This time dispatch forgot to give the driver the release number off my confirmation. The driver was loading overnight causing detention because the guard would not let the driver in until he had the release number. 2. We had to steam this product up to temp. Dispatch chose a steamer that is 90 miles out of the route and charged me for it when there was a facility that could have done that was 6 miles from the consignee. 3. I asked for the charges we would face with steaming the product and they told me what my charges would be then they charged me double and said they forgot to include the drivers hours. Then when they sent me the invoice that added another $100 to the steaming charge. Just wanted to get some feedback as how to handle this going forward. Thank you and have a great day!! |

#1 - not your fault
#2 - if you want a carrier to go to a certain location you need to tell them, do your homework and give them direction, don't let them choose, your fault #3 - if it is a quote its a quote, they eat their mistake and learn, if its an indication, then you need to firm it up and pay only what you were quooted |

Good morning Nancy,
Thank you for the feedback. #2 I tried to have them let find the location to be steamed but the terminal manager said she would do it. I called back and she indicated that the facility that she found was " right down the road " from the consignee. It ended up being 90 miles out of route. I'm not sure if the driver went to the wrong one or the manager just picked the wrong place to go? Thanks again and have a great day!! Jeff |

you are most welcome, it's happened to all of us at one time or another, here are a few of my faves:
you should be able to do it for that rate, it's only an inch on the map it turned out to be half the weight so you should charge me half the price its just down the road (but i am not going to tell you how far) if i give you 10 loads you should be able to do them cheaper |

Jeff I wouldn't pay it. It was not your fault the carrier or driver made a mistake which caused the problem.
Instead of billing a customer/broker when my company makes a mistake I eat it and apologize for the problem. |

Good morning Jerry,
Thanks for the advice. My personality tells me to pay it and cut my losses so that I don't have an angry carrier out there bad mouthing me. I really like this company but it seems after I paid the first two invoices I strongly disagreed with ( and I NICELY let them know about it ) That now they are taking advantage of me. I guess I will pull up my big boy pants and stand my ground on this one. Wish me luck! LOL Thanks again for taking time out of your day for this discussion. Have a great weekend!! Jeff |
