Seems like I'm not looking in the right places. If anyone sees this and has a hopper available to go from Council Bluffs Ia to Guthrie Ok you can reach Owen at 229-438-0141. Otherwise I am open to advice.

Couple points. Maybe that's not a good route right now. Post it, and attach some info. Is it grain? Meat and bone? Fertilizer? Maybe a pickup and delivery window. All of the info you can give will help me to decide if I have interest in the liad. I've tried for a long time to explain to shoppers and brokers to put a little info with the load posting. I'm a busy owner just like everyone else. It's a waist of my time (when I'm really busy to have to take time to call when it's a product I may not wish to haul. So it's nice to know you have freight, fill us in a little. Thanks!!

So just out of curisioty did anyone ever get a responce from her?

I'm betting it was silly priced. I grumble about rates in Iowa and the west border of states. But after an email I got today I'm thinking all rates have just gone to heck in a hand bag.

Silverton, Or to Paul Id, 625 miles for $40/ ton. And had a reload of Mountain Home, ID to Harrisburg, OR for $42/ ton. So over, bounce and back is 1250 miles rouhgly. And thats some lousy two lanes to get it that short. So $2.13 a mile roughly to haul it at 32.5 ton/ 96,000 gross!?!? Come on people I don't even begin to understand how anyone could haul it for those rates. so about $2650 for about 3 1/2 days of work, thats going to pay the bills real good.

Why on earth is evrything down to now money at all??

I had a broker tell me today, after I told him that his haul was only at $2.33/loaded mile, and fuel here is $2.19/gal..."get yourself a backhaul." What happened to the days when you could make a haul and it paid well ENOUGH that you could just go home if you wanted? Not being greedy, just seriously makes no sense to pay them to haul their product and gain nothing more, not even a loyal working relationship, nothing. Thankfully, we do have some good contacts that pay a living wage and hit us up on our preferred lanes fairly regularly.

Are they paying you a wage or are you selling a service?
