What ever happened that this has disappeared on most loads. Does no one figure it or are the brokers just pocketing it along with their normal cut? |

Fuel surcharge is more common in dedicated work. You probably won't find many spot loads paying a surcharge.... Basically you take it or leave it. |

To my understanding, surcharge is still there. Most, like me, forget to ask about it and well, the broker pockets it. Even if you do ask, they just say it's worked in....aka, pocketed🙄

Fuel surcharges are for contract/ongoing work. They are designed for longer term price stability on a given lane. Base rate stays the same, rates only adjust to the added cost of fuel. So for spot market things like 1 off brokered loads, there is no need for it. You just figure the current days costs and do an all in rate

we are never offered fsc by our customers. it's always a rate based on weight hauled. Nutien, Pioneer and Viterra are pretty much the only ones who publish rate sheets with fsc. the term pocketing is cute though.... |

Broker here...I personally do not pocket the FSC. I do a straight pass-through to the driver. I agree. Fuel is usually only added to dedicated/long-term lanes. |

Is the number on the bottom line the only one that matters anyway? Itemize it any way you want. Or not. It's still the bottom line. Hopefully you have your "ducks in a row". I just read an article in Overdrive saying a fuel price surge is likely this winter. |

So you're telling me that most of the loads on this load board are one off loads. Bull. I'm beginning to think they're all double brokered and the original carrier is pocketing it |
