Has anyone hauled onions or potatoes in a hopper trailer? What does it take to get them out of the hoppers? Do you have to block open the tarp to get them a little airflow? What areas do you haul form and to what destinations?

What kind of a rate did you get on them? Did you go to a location that had a hopper to unload into or how did they convey them from the hopper to their location?

Onions load out in the field. You drive your truck next to the harvester and the convey them into the trailer. If they have allready picked the good ones and the onions are on top of the ground when they are picking them up, if you load 80,000 lbs. when you get to oregon you will have 80,000 lbs. BUT if the onions are in the ground when they are picking them up I have lost as much as 3000 lbs. just going to oregon, and they pay on what you deliver not what you load.

Are you the person we should talk to about getting in on hauling onions? When does the harvest start and end?

I've hauled potatoes out of Missouri before. You have to block the trap open a bit yes. And you have to have the doors open a bit too. Never had any problems unloading them. I was pulling a Super Cube so maybe that made a difference.

Reliant, but watch there rates and contracts. Pretty iffy if the load has issues.

A couple pieces of 4"pvc pipe in the corners of your tarps work great for ventilation.
