I don't care if they go through a screening and whatever else. I bet they in 6 weeks they'll hand them the keys to a brand new truck. It's no different than these strong wheel holders out here. Just a bad idea all the way around.

I can hear them now...Ok, the ATA says we need to supply the industry with more drivers..Where can we get them? Many truckers don’t like the way the country is going right now, Major Corporations have gone WOKE and now president Biden is handing out free Crack Pipes, and most of you wonder how it could come to this? It’s quite simple really, someone else was raising your kids while you were busy pursuing your career choice, one parent at the dinner table every night doesn’t cut it, if it did single people would be allowed to adopt children.

Dave, we've had some good conversations on other post and I do agree that saying this is very harsh! Would you feel this way about military men and women? They're gone for 6 months to a year. Their child(ren) are left at home with 1 patent. Those men and women have chosen to serve and protect our country. Right now more than ever I'm Extremely proud of my brothers and sisters in the trucking industry. They have chose to basically serve the country by moving product from point A to point B. Dave, we've had some good conversations on other post and I do agree that saying this is very harsh! Would you feel this way about military men and women? They're gone for 6 months to a year. Their child(ren) are left at home with 1 patent. Those men and women have chosen to serve and protect our country. Right now more than ever I'm Extremely proud of my brothers and sisters in the trucking industry. They have chose to basically serve the country by moving product from point A to point B. Without this industry you know as well as I do people would running naked and starving. Even though it's getting slowly to that point now. Everyone is different and have their way of making money. Who is anyone to say that the next guy is doing things wrong. I'm not!

The US has glorified hard work and being absent and then the US turns around a criticizes the decline of the nuclear family. Again I'm not downplaying family and the military, I'm just saying typically thats a young man or woman making that choice. The truth is definitely harsh but nevertheless it remains the truth and I am only the messenger of the truth, if I ceased to exist the truth would still remain.

Eric, I don't get the impression that's what Dave is saying at all. It's just a conversation about our jobs. The trend seems to be, as money gets to be less, people are forced to work more. Working more means less family time. Some people on the forum discuss topics and give out their personal experiences on how they've been more profitable. Some people on the forum get bent out of shape any time someone discusses a pro trucker argument....I've been flat ass broke before, and I don't plan to do it again. My family is my number one priority. I get out there, I do my job, and I get home! The biggest hindrance to that is government regulated hours of service, and low rates. I love my job and I am profitable, but it's a vollitile industry. In general, if the money was better and time was more flexible, trucking wouldn't struggle to get good people. That's what I get from Dave.

You are correct that it has nothing to do with someone liking or disliking the pilot program, I was simply pointing out that there is a chance that it may not be implemented as soon as you think do to the current situation in global affairs, yes it’s true that individuals have mentioned the draft from time to time, however this is the first time I am aware of that the selective service itself has raised the issue in several decades, so it may be worth paying attention to, especially since we don’t see any politicians coming out and trying to down play it. I totally agree with you that the pilot program is a bad idea, because it does nothing to address the real problems, from what I can tell everyone here wishes they could go back to the way trucking used to be, I think that’s why Classic trucks are so popular, everyone wants to hold on to that image from the past, most don’t seem to like the direction the industry is going.
