I had super singles on my truck a few years ago and when one of them blew out (I was on a very narrow section of I-44 in Tulsa, OK) I had to stop right then and there; Struggled to go maybe about 100 fet or so to get to where there was barely a roadside shoulder... |

I run singles on both my truck and trailer, for the weight savings only, pulling a hopper, paid by the ton. I always check the tractor tires for pressure and the trailer uses an auto fill system. Considering a tire monitoring system for the tractor. |

Not on a flatbed, BUT I've run them a a spread axle walking floor for about fifteen years. To it right requires extra attention. Tire pressure, wheel bearing adjustment, etc. Zero off set rims would be best on the trailer. I'm a Michelin man but in recent years I have found them maybe too soft. Started chewing them up on the front axle like you ran them across a cheese grader. I have a dump/lift on that axle and I'm very careful turning. I went to a different brand for that axle for now. Rear axle wore beautifully to about 200,000 miles. A Tire Monitoring System is one of the best investments I've ever made. |

I am considering them for the weight savings my truck are sometimes a little over weight or are pushing the limit really hard but I am not sure what kind of trouble it would be finding replacement on the road

Saves about 100 pounds per wheel position vesus 22.5 lo pro duals on aluminum wheels. Check around on the availibility. They are fairly common. Invest in the tire monitor. I haven't had a tire problem on the road in years. |

Don't hold me to it, maybe 32 tires... I've had mine for 4 years or so. If I remember right, around $700.00. That was for 10 tires. I run wide-singles. It has an antenna you mount to the rear cross member on the tractor to help pick up the sensors on the trailer. I have replaced the antenna and the monitor each one time. I think I solved the problems that caused the failures prematurely. I'm happy enough with it. Knowing shit happens and the next brand may or may not be any better. We'll see. I had an inflation system on a few trailers. Had a few problems there too. Personally I like the monitor better. Surely a combination of the two would be best. |

Yes I would still like a few road kings to tear into. We build race car shocks and have a dyno for them. Would like to see if we can access seals and stuff from some of our suppliers to see if we can rebuild them

I run super single michelin's myself on the truck and three trailers. One of the trailers is a spread and the other two are tandems. Which Michelin are you running on the spread?

I've got a pair on the drive axle of a 6 x 2 (2 shocks). You can have them for the shipping or a bottle of George Dickel (white label). I'll get in touch with you when I get them off. It might a week or two. |

X One Multi Energy T. Wears beautifully on the rear axle, but was getting chewed up on the front axle. Didn't have that problem with the old XTE. |

Exactly. I used to chew em up a lot on a 30 foot spread axle end dump . Real soft . They were just singles. Plus if you do not beef up the axle they tear up bearings from axle bowing from them being not as wide as duals .

If you have the correct axles and hubs, it's not likely to be a problem. Correct bearing adjustment is important. Zero off-set wheels would be best on a trailer. I have run 2" off-set on the drives for years and no problems. |

I ru n them all the way around. On e thing you will notice is they turn easier.
Have the. On My hopper also. I like Hankook for trailer very good life. Price too. And to save money, I'm running Michelin caps on the drives. Very quite tire, wearing well.

To advocate a tire monitor system. I had a flat on Friday. The alarm went off. Looked up to see a tire at 68 psi. Probably would have caught it sooner but had the juke box up loud. Heavy traffic, looked again, 56 psi. I hit the shoulder to verify. The flat was on a liftable axle. Wide single tire. Fully loaded but picked up the axle and went a couple miles to the next exit. Watched an episode of F-Troop and HeeHaw while waiting for the tire man.
A couple of points. This was the first flat in probably ten years. I've had alarms before. Usually seasonal changes, cold temp low psi, hot temp high psi. And the rare false alarm. Secondly this truck is a 6x2. A new tire has 16/32". The tire taken off had 12/32". The tires on that axle have been on the truck for over four years. I generally run 110k to 120k miles a year and my dead head is around 35%.
Lift axle aside, the monitor saved a $500.00 rim. |
