I don't doubt it at all. I was offered $1.25 out from Houston several times for a flat this week. Offers for hazmat tanker were running $1.75 to $1.85.
I've never seen freight rates crater so much or so wide spread. Then again I never saw so many rigs with $3000 to $4000 payments either. Them boys think they have to keep moving even if they are losing money.

It is totally backward thinking to accept a load for breakeven or under breakeven... just because their wheels are turning doesnt mean they are making any money. As matter of fact they are losing money. I find that patience and dealing with decent brokers pays off... Patience is key.... it may take a couple days. But you will find a decent paying load from an honest and honorable broker who either knows how to deal with shippers for fair pay and/or isnt so greedy so as to scalp more than 15 to 20 percent of the linehaul....

It is sad to say this, but senseless and impatient carriers and independent Truckers who fight for crumbs... will soon find themselves bankrupt....

Spot loads have got so bad we are going to be parking our hoppers for a while. We will continue to pull loads for our dedicated suppliers but I can make more with a van in this economy. Hopefully people start saying no and the rates come back.

A few more months like this & all the fancy frac trucks should be on the Paccar repo lot & things can get back to normal.
