Has anyone hauled gypsum in a hopper? If so was wondering how it comes out unloading and also if I could get 26 ton in a 41'x102"x72'. Thank you for any input!

It would fit but I don't think it would be a good idea. I have never seen it done before, only belts & end dumps. Alot of times it doesn't fall till I'm at the last stage of the hoist on my end dump so I would think you'd be shoveling it out of a hopper.

I know a guy that hauls nothing but gypsum in a hopper. He runs cornhuskers with the aggregate doors. We bought one of his old hoppers and have another one like his but taller and have used it to haul DDG's and it always unloads very easy, even in the extreme TX heat

Hauled dry gypsum in hoppers all the time out of Iowa. No problems. Not so sure on fresh product.

I'm being told that it is 8% to 10% moisture. I assume that is considered dry?? It will be coming out of Aurora, IN.

Yeah as stated I've seen and heard of 5-6 hour unload times before, had a friend that told k him 8 hour to unload ended up shoveling the whole load from and that was in a cornhusker with Ag doors on it.

If you put the brown gypsum from Aurora Indiana in a hopper bottom you will have a mess that stuff don't want to flow in the best of conditions it is like Play-Doh

I have hauled a few loads out of sun city Kansas in a Wilson with intermediate traps. Usually took a hard hour to get it off and you needed a shower when done.

Hauled it out of sun City once. Never again 2.5 hours and a shovel later it was out of there. Big hoppers and big doors weren't any match for that load from sun City. Never thought about hauling it since.

I tried Syn Gyp with a walking floor. The loader guy missed my sweep tarp. Yes, I caught hell for 4 1/2 hours with a helper. A wide mulch shovel and push broom 6 tons later it was empty. It walked off about 22 tons. I think Ima try it 1 more time with a slightly longer sweep tarp but not to long because it would be impossible to dig it out. Syn Gyp pays really good $40.00 a ton less than 140 miles but thats not enough to shovel every time. I might spray some PAM on the floor first.

There was something of graphite coating that guys were using. Can't remember. I just wax my trailer once a week, then once a month i pull in the shop and use hot water inside and let dry. Then re-wax it. For myself this process works superbly for what i do. Be safe and safe sliding..πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I do it once a week at least from Cyril, Ok to Pryor, Ok. I'm using a 2022 Wilson, and have a bit of trouble if it's moist.

Used a martin vibrator worked fine with big doors. Wouldn't try it with small doors. Looked like the pillsbury dough boy when done. Need a mask at least a better one than the covid mask.
hauled one load too many
